Can Claude post to social media for you?
Ask Claude to put a post on Instagram and, out of the box, it will write the caption and stop there. That changes once you give it a connector to a social media tool. Claude now has several ways to reach other software: a directory of ready-made connectors, custom connectors you add by URL, a browser extension, scheduled tasks and Claude Code. Only some of them are a good idea for your social accounts. This guide walks through each one, which Claude plan it needs, and how to set it up safely.

TL;DR: Not by itself, yes with a connector. Add a social media tool as a connector in Claude (from the directory, or as a custom connector with the tool's MCP URL), sign in, and Claude can draft, schedule and publish through that tool. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, Free included, with one custom connector on Free. Avoid letting Claude in Chrome post by clicking around the networks' own sites.
By the Postify team at Businice S.R.L. Postify makes this site, and this guide covers it alongside other options.
Four ways Claude can reach your social accounts
Claude can reach social media through a connector from its directory, a custom connector you add with a tool's MCP URL, Claude in Chrome clicking through websites, or Claude Code in a terminal. Connectors are the safest choice for posting. Browser clicking works technically but runs into platform rules and prompt injection risk.
Directory connectors are listed and reviewed in Claude's connector directory and install in a few clicks. Custom connectors are any remote MCP server you add by URL; Anthropic notes these have not been verified by Anthropic, so only add servers from vendors you trust. Both kinds, once added, work across claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Cowork and the mobile apps, because the connection runs from Anthropic's servers rather than your device.
Claude in Chrome is different. It is a browser extension that reads pages, clicks buttons and fills in forms in your own browser. It can, in principle, open LinkedIn and type a post. The trouble is that several networks forbid exactly that kind of automation on their own sites, which we cover below.
Claude Code is Anthropic's coding tool for the terminal. It speaks MCP too, so developers and technical marketers can add a scheduler's server with one command and manage posts from the same place they write code or docs.
| Route | Claude plans | How it posts | Good for posting? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Directory connector | Every plan | Calls the vendor's MCP server | Yes, if your scheduler is listed |
| Custom connector (remote MCP) | Every plan; Free is limited to one | Calls the vendor's MCP server | Yes, from a vendor you trust |
| Claude in Chrome | Paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) | Clicks and types on websites | No: conflicts with LinkedIn and X rules |
| Claude Code | Plans that include Claude Code | Calls an MCP server from the terminal | Yes, for technical users |
Which Claude plan do you need to post?
Any plan works for connectors. Anthropic says custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, with Free users limited to one custom connector. Claude in Chrome and scheduled tasks need a paid plan. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds a custom connector for the organization before members can use it.
For one person with one scheduler, the free plan is enough to try it: one custom connector covers one social media tool. If you also want a calendar, a design tool or a notes app connected, the limit arrives quickly and Pro is the next step. Claude's pricing page listed Pro at 20 US dollars a month billed monthly, or 17 a month billed annually, on 23 October 2026.
On Team and Enterprise, the setup moves to an admin. An owner opens Organization settings, then Connectors, and adds the custom connector as a web connector. Enabling a connector does not give everyone access automatically: each member still connects and signs in with their own account in the tool.
| Plan | Custom connectors | Directory connectors | Claude in Chrome | Scheduled tasks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | One | Yes | No | No |
| Pro | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Max | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Team | Added by an owner | Enabled by an owner | Yes | Yes |
| Enterprise | Added by an owner | Enabled by an owner | Yes | Yes |
Should you let Claude in Chrome post for you?
We would not. Claude in Chrome can click and type on any website, but LinkedIn's User Agreement bans bots that create, comment on, like or share posts, and X only allows automation through its published interfaces. A connector posts through each network's official API instead, which is allowed and leaves a clear record.
LinkedIn is explicit. Section 8.2 of its User Agreement says you may not use bots or other unauthorized automated methods to create, comment on, like, share or re-share posts, or send messages. It also rules out scraping, including through browser plugins and add-ons. A browser agent typing posts into linkedin.com fits that description closely.
X's terms say you may not access the service in any way other than through the interfaces it publishes, and its Developer Policy adds automation rules: get consent before sending automated replies or DMs, never take bulk or spammy actions, and never post identical or substantially similar content across several accounts.
There is also a security reason. Anthropic's own safety guide for Claude in Chrome says the risk of prompt injection, hidden instructions on a web page that try to steer the agent, is not zero. It suggests using a separate browser profile without sensitive accounts signed in. Your social accounts are exactly the sensitive kind. Use Chrome mode for research, such as reading a competitor's public page, and leave posting to a connector.
Can Claude post on a schedule by itself?
Two different things are called scheduling here. The scheduler you connect holds posts until their publish time, so a chat can end and the post still goes out. Claude's own scheduled tasks, on paid plans, can also rerun a prompt hourly, daily or weekly, for example to draft next week's posts every Monday.
For the publish time itself, rely on the scheduler. Ask Claude to schedule the post for Tuesday at 9am and the tool stores it; nothing depends on Claude being open at 9am.
Scheduled tasks are useful one step earlier. Anthropic says they are available on all paid plans, run remotely even when your computer is asleep or the desktop app is closed, and get the same connected tools as a normal chat. A weekly task could read last week's analytics through the connector, draft five posts and save them as drafts for you to review.
Keep a human gate on anything a task produces unattended. Saving to drafts, rather than straight to the publish queue, means a person reads every post before it can go live.
How to connect Claude to Postify
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose + Add and Add custom connector, name it Postify and paste https://api.postify.tech/mcp. Choose Connect, sign in to Postify, then turn Postify on in a chat's tools menu. There is no API key, and the connector is included on every Postify plan, Hobby too.
Postify's MCP server lets your own Claude control Postify: create, schedule and publish posts to the nine platforms Postify supports (Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest and Plative), read your queue and analytics, manage recurring posts, and work in the unified inbox on Plus and up. Postify has no AI writer of its own; the writing happens in your Claude.
Limits are 120 requests and 20 writes a minute per user, which is plenty for a week of posts in one conversation. Claude Code users can add the same server with one command: claude mcp add --transport http postify https://api.postify.tech/mcp, then type /mcp inside Claude Code to sign in.
Steps
- Open Connectors. In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize, then Connectors. On Team or Enterprise, an owner adds it first under Organization settings, Connectors.
- Add a custom connector. Choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Postify and paste https://api.postify.tech/mcp as the URL.
- Sign in. Choose Connect and sign in with your Postify account. Claude gets access to Postify only, never to your social media passwords.
- Turn it on and ask. In a new chat, turn Postify on in the tools menu and ask, for example: schedule this caption and image to Instagram and LinkedIn for Tuesday at 9am. Approve the action when Claude asks.
How to keep control of what Claude posts
Review each tool approval before you allow it, and only choose Allow always for a server and action you trust. Turn off connector tools you do not need in the chat's tools menu. Ask Claude to save posts as drafts first, check them yourself, and remove the connector the day you stop using it.
Anthropic's guidance for custom connectors is to connect only to trusted servers and to read tool approval requests carefully. A request shows which action Claude wants to run and with what input, so you can catch a wrong date, a wrong account or a caption you did not ask for before it reaches the scheduler.
Narrow what the connector can touch. If you only want help scheduling, switch off the inbox and delete actions in the tools menu. Sign in with a scheduler account whose role matches the job: Postify's team roles and per-profile permissions let you limit which brands and actions that account can reach.
Finally, label AI media where the platform asks for it. TikTok requires a label on AI-generated content that shows realistic scenes or people, and YouTube asks creators to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content. Postify passes a post's AI label to Instagram feed posts, Reels and carousels, TikTok and YouTube where those APIs offer one.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Claude post to Instagram for free?
- Claude's side can be free: the Free plan allows one custom connector, enough for one social media tool. The tool itself sets its own price and plan rules, and Instagram only publishes through approved apps to professional (Business or Creator) accounts, so check the scheduler's plans before you start.
- Is there a Buffer or Hootsuite connector for Claude?
- Both run MCP servers, but neither appeared in Claude's connector directory when we checked on 23 October 2026. You add them, like Postify, as a custom connector with the vendor's MCP URL. Metricool, Typefully and Taplio were listed in the directory itself.
- Can I use Claude on my phone to schedule posts?
- Yes. Anthropic says remote connectors work across claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Cowork and the iOS and Android apps once added, because the connection runs from Anthropic's servers. Add the connector on the web or desktop first, then use it from the mobile app.
- Can Claude reply to comments and DMs?
- Only if the connected tool has an inbox and exposes it to Claude. Postify's connector can list and answer comments and DMs from its unified inbox on Plus and up. Let Claude draft replies for you to approve, and keep complaints and anything legal with a person.
- Will LinkedIn or X ban me for posting with Claude?
- Posting through a connector uses each network's official API through an approved app, the same as scheduling by hand. The risk comes from bots that click through the website for you: LinkedIn's User Agreement bans automated posting, liking and commenting that way, and X permits access only through its published interfaces.
- Is Claude better than ChatGPT for social media posting?
- For posting, the assistant matters less than the connector. Both can call a scheduler's MCP server. Claude's custom connectors work on every plan including Free, which makes it easy to try. Pick the assistant you write best with, then the scheduler whose connector covers your networks.

Put Postify to work on your calendar
Postify supports nine platforms in one workflow: plan, schedule, and publish without juggling five different tools.
Which social media tools are in Claude's connector directory?
Few, so far. On 23 October 2026 the directory listed Metricool's social media connector, Typefully for X, LinkedIn and Threads, and Taplio for LinkedIn, among roughly a thousand connectors. Buffer, Hootsuite and Postify were not listed, but each runs an MCP server you add as a custom connector instead.
Metricool's listing, made by Metricool, covers scheduling and analytics for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads and several other networks. Typefully focuses on writing and scheduling for X, LinkedIn, Threads and a few text networks. Taplio is a LinkedIn tool. Design and video connectors such as Canva also appear, which help make the image but do not publish it.
A directory listing is a convenience, not a requirement. A custom connector does the same job once added: you paste the vendor's MCP URL, sign in, and the tools show up in the chat. Buffer, for example, publishes its own guide to posting from Claude through its MCP server.
Whatever you install, open the tools menu in a chat and check which actions the connector offers. Some can publish; others stop at a draft on purpose so a person approves first. Our comparison of social media MCP servers lists what each vendor's connector can do.
