Worth knowing about Later: Later remains a strong pick for visual, Instagram-led planning. Its link in bio is on every plan, including the Free plan its help center describes, it offers notification publishing through its mobile app for Instagram and TikTok, and the Scale plan adds competitive benchmarking (up to 20 competitors) and Meta Ads analytics for boosted posts. If those matter more to you than X or Facebook Stories, Later is a reasonable place to stay.

Networks: X and Snapchat decide it for many teams

Later stopped publishing to X on August 28, 2025, and its help center lists no Bluesky, Google Business Profile or Mastodon support. In return it added Snapchat, with Spotlight videos and public Stories published from the desktop app.

Postify publishes to Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, plus Plative, Postify's own social network. It does not support Snapchat, Bluesky, Google Business Profile or Mastodon either. So the split is simple: if X is in your plan, Later cannot cover it, and if Snapchat is, Postify cannot.

Instagram and visual planning

This is where the two products overlap most. Later has a visual planner, Instagram first comments and Stories that auto-publish for Business profiles, with notification publishing through its mobile app when you want to finish an Instagram or TikTok post on your phone.

Postify has a feed grid preview for Instagram and TikTok, and publishes Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, carousels and first comments directly, without reminders. First comments start on the Plus plan. Later does not support Facebook Stories, which matters if your brand posts Stories on both Meta apps.

A Postify post can carry a different caption for each network, so the TikTok version and the LinkedIn version of a launch do not have to read the same.

Team features: inbox and approvals

Later Growth ($50 per month billed monthly, $37.50 billed yearly) adds a social inbox for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comments and Instagram and Facebook DMs, plus internal and external approvals with custom roles. That is a real team setup, and Postify does not match it on approvals.

Postify has no internal approval step. On Pro and Agency you can send a client a per-post link where they Accept or Reject, and the post can wait for that answer. The Postify inbox starts on Plus: DMs on Facebook and Instagram, comments on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads and YouTube, X replies and mentions, and comment-to-DM automations. It has no TikTok or Pinterest inbox and no saved replies or assignment.

AI: a built-in writer or your own assistant

Later includes Caption Writer and Ideas, paid for with AI credits: 5, 50 or 100 per month depending on the plan, with more sold as an add-on. A search of Later's help center found no MCP integration and no public API.

Postify has no built-in AI writer. It runs an MCP server instead, so an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can create and schedule posts, read insights and work the inbox (Plus and above) in your Postify account. If you want AI inside the scheduler with no setup, Later is simpler. If you already work in an AI assistant, Postify connects to it.

Migration checklist

Before you cancel, export your Instagram analytics from Later as CSV (all paid plans; LinkedIn CSV needs Growth or Scale). Analytics above Free-plan level are removed as soon as the paid plan ends.
Later's help center shows no export of scheduled posts, and Postify has no import. Copy the captions of every queued post and download the media you still need, then rebuild those posts in the Postify composer.
Cancel on the platform where you subscribed (web or iOS). The plan runs to the end of the cycle, but posts above the Free-plan limit stop publishing after that, so move them before the end date.
Later plans are non-refundable, and moving from yearly to monthly only takes effect at the end of the yearly cycle. Line up the switch with your renewal date.
In Postify, connect one account per network to each brand profile and publish one test post per network. On the entry plan, keep the 15 posts per month cap in mind.
