Social Media Holidays Calendar

Every social media holiday worth knowing about in 2026, 165 dates across twelve months, each with its hashtag, its category and an honest note on whether it is worth a post. Open any month for the full table.

Last updated: 2026-08-03

A social media holiday calendar solves one specific problem: the Tuesday morning where you have to publish something and have no idea what. It does not replace the posts that matter, the customer stories and the product news and the thing you actually know more about than anyone else. It fills the gaps between them with days people are already talking about, which is a much easier place to start than a blank composer.

This calendar carries 165 observances across the year, from New Year's Day on January 1 to New Year's Eve on December 31, with 39 of them marked as top picks: the ones with wide enough recognition that a post has somewhere to land. 22 of them float, meaning the date is set by a rule rather than a number, and every one of those has been resolved for 2026 and carries a note saying how. That is the part most calendars get wrong, and it is the part that breaks a schedule copied forward from last year.

Every month below is a full page with the complete table: date, observance, hashtag and category, with the top picks highlighted. Nothing is hidden behind a form. If you would rather have the year in one place, the band further down will email you all 39 top picks in a single message, which is the same data you can read here for free.

The whole of 2026 in one email

The tables on this site are free and you never need an address to read them. This is the shortcut: the 39 top picks of the year, three or four a month with their hashtags, in a single message you can plan a year from without opening twelve pages.

We use your email once to deliver this report. Unsubscribe links are in every email.

Getting something out of a holiday calendar

  • Pick two or three dates a month and ignore the rest. A feed that posts for every observance on a list reads as automated, and the accounts that get value out of a calendar like this one are the ones that use it as a menu rather than a schedule.
  • Never force a holiday onto a brand it does not fit. If the connection between the day and what you sell takes a paragraph to explain, there is no connection, and your audience can tell. Skipping a date costs you nothing at all.
  • Work backwards from the date, not forwards from today. Anything involving photography, a landing page or physical stock needs two to three weeks, so a date on the 20th is really a briefing on the 1st.
  • Re-check every floating date each year. 22 of the 165 entries here are set by a rule rather than a fixed number, and Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother's Day and the whole Black Friday weekend move by days from one year to the next.
  • Watch which country a date belongs to. Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Mother's Day all mean different things or different dates depending on where your audience is, and a single global send is how that goes wrong.
  • Put the big commercial dates in your calendar first and build the rest around them. The last week of November is worth more than every food day of the year combined, and it needs its assets finished long before it arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Are these dates the same every year?

Some are and some are not. Fixed observances such as Valentine's Day on February 14 or World Emoji Day on July 17 never move. 22 of the 165 entries here are floating, meaning the date comes from a rule such as the fourth Thursday of November or the second Sunday of May, so it lands on a different number each year. Every floating entry is resolved for 2026 and carries a note in the table explaining the rule, which tells you exactly which rows to re-check next year.

Do I have to post for every one of these?

No, and you should not. 165 dates a year is a menu, not a quota. Two or three a month that genuinely connect to what you sell will do more than thirty that do not, and an audience notices very quickly when an account is posting for a day rather than for a reason. The 39 top picks are the widest-recognition dates, and they are a good place to start narrowing.

What is in the emailed calendar?

One message with the top picks for all twelve months, 39 dates in total, so you can block out a year in a single sitting. It is generated from the same dataset that renders these pages, so it can never disagree with them. The month tables on this site are free and complete either way: the email is a convenience, not a paywall on the dates.

Where do these dates come from?

Public observance calendars, national holiday listings and the industry roundups that track the newer hashtag days, cross-checked against each other and resolved for 2026. Which observances made the list, and which 39 are the ones most people recognize, is our curated estimate rather than measured data. Dates tied to one country move or do not exist elsewhere, so check anything time critical against a local calendar before you schedule it.

Is anything stored when I use this page?

Only your email address, and only if you ask for the year calendar. Every month table on this site is rendered on our server and ships inside the page, so reading it needs no account and no input from you. If you request the calendar we receive your address and which page you asked from, so we can send it and know which page produced it. Marketing email is a separate checkbox that starts unticked.

Which month has the most social media holidays?

March, with 15 entries. The months are not far apart though, and volume is a poor guide to value: the last week of November carries four dates and is worth more to most businesses than the whole of March. Read the top picks rather than the counts.
