Postify or Buffer: which one fits you

Worth knowing about Buffer: Buffer has been around since 2010 and is known for a simple queue-based scheduler with a real free plan. It also gives every plan, including Free, API keys and an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants, so connecting an AI assistant is not something Postify offers that Buffer lacks.

Per channel versus per plan

Buffer prices each channel, meaning each connected social account. Essentials is $6 per channel per month billed monthly, or $5 billed yearly, for the first 10 channels, with lower rates above that. Ten channels on Essentials come to $60 per month billed monthly, or $50 billed yearly. Team doubles the per-channel rate and adds unlimited users.

Postify prices each plan by the number of brand profiles and users. A brand profile holds one account per network, so Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok for one brand use one profile. The entry plan is €9.99 per month, or €8.33 per month billed yearly, for 1 profile, 1 user and 15 posts per month, with 90 days of analytics and no inbox.

Postify is billed in euros and Buffer in US dollars. Which one costs less depends on how many networks each brand uses and how many people need access, so price the setup you actually run.

Where Buffer is ahead

Buffer has a free plan and Postify does not. It also publishes to networks Postify does not support: Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business Profile and Substack Notes. It can schedule LinkedIn PDF carousels, which Postify cannot.

For automation, Buffer is clearly stronger. Every plan, including Free, comes with a GraphQL API, an MCP server, and Zapier, Make, n8n, IFTTT and Canva integrations. Postify has no public API, no webhooks and no Zapier or Canva.

Buffer also has a built-in AI Assistant, post templates and CSV bulk upload, and its queue is on every plan, with recurring posts in beta. Postify has none of those three, and its queue (weekly posting times per profile, with repeating posts and evergreen recycling) starts on Plus. Writing help comes from the AI assistant you connect.

Where Postify is ahead

Buffer's inbox is focused on comments, and no DM inbox is listed. From the Plus plan, Postify's inbox handles Facebook and Instagram direct messages as well as comments on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads and YouTube. You can set comment-to-DM and keyword auto-replies.

Postify also publishes Instagram and Facebook Stories directly, shows a feed grid preview for Instagram and TikTok, and from Plus posts first comments automatically on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and X. One post can carry a different caption for each network.

Buffer's web and iOS apps are English only, and its help center suggests browser translation for other languages. The Postify app is available in 39 languages, including German, Dutch, Arabic and Hebrew.

Teams and approvals

Buffer Team gives you unlimited users, approvals, access levels and branded reports, priced per channel. If many people need to draft and approve posts, that is a real advantage.

Postify includes a set number of users per plan (1, 2, 3, 6 or 12) and sells extra seats from Starter. It has six roles with per-profile permissions but no internal approval step. On Pro and Agency, you can send a client a per-post link to Accept or Reject before the post goes out.

Video and analytics limits to check

Postify caps YouTube uploads at 180 seconds and Facebook videos at 90 seconds, so long-form YouTube videos need another tool. Buffer lists YouTube Shorts as its YouTube channel type.

Buffer gives advanced analytics only for Facebook Pages, Instagram, LinkedIn Pages and X. Postify gives post and profile insights on every network it supports, with history from 90 days on the entry plan up to 732 days on Agency, plus PDF and scheduled email reports.

Migration checklist

1. Buffer's help center shows no CSV export of your queue. List your scheduled posts before you leave, or have a developer pull scheduled and sent posts through Buffer's API, which every plan can use.
2. Export your reports before you cancel. Report export is on Essentials and above, and after you drop to Free you only see 30 days of insights.
3. Check Buffer's refund window: 7 days for monthly plans and 30 days for annual plans. Outside it, your plan runs to the end of the period and then moves to Free, with channels beyond 3 locked but still connected.
4. If you are on a legacy Buffer plan (Pro, Premium or Business), note that you cannot return to legacy pricing once you switch to the current plans.
5. Postify has no CSV import. On Plus and above, set each profile's weekly posting times and add your next few weeks of posts to the queue; on any plan you can schedule them with dates in the calendar, or give your post list to an AI assistant connected to Postify's MCP server and review what it schedules.
6. Count networks per brand, not channels. In Postify one brand profile holds one account per network, so a brand on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok uses one profile, not four channels.
