The best AI tools for social media in 2026, grouped by job
There is no single AI tool that runs your social media. There are tools that write well, tools that make images and edit video, schedulers with an AI assistant built in, and a newer option: connecting the AI assistant you already use to your scheduler, so it can draft, schedule and publish for you. This guide groups the best of each by the job it does, with prices as each vendor lists them.

TL;DR: For writing, use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. For images, Canva or Adobe Express. For video, CapCut to edit, Descript to edit by text, and OpusClip to cut long videos into clips. If you want AI inside your scheduler, Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool and Later all have it. If you want your own assistant to do the posting, connect it to a scheduler with an MCP server, such as Postify.
By the Postify team at Businice S.R.L. Postify makes this site. It is on this list but not ranked first, and we say where other tools are stronger.

1. ChatGPT
Writing captions, hooks and post ideas in one assistant
ChatGPT is a strong all-rounder for social media writing: captions in several tones, hooks for short video, a month of post ideas, and rewrites of one post for each network. It can also connect to custom MCP servers, which OpenAI's developer docs say are subject to your account and workspace policies, and that lets it schedule posts through a social media tool.
Pros
- Strong at short, punchy copy and quick variations
- Rewrites one post for each network in a single chat
- A free plan to start with
Cons
- Cannot publish to social networks on its own
- Custom MCP servers depend on your account and workspace settings
- Generic copy unless you give it your brand voice and examples
Verdict: The default pick for writing social posts. Give it examples of your best posts and it gets much closer to your voice.
Pricing: Free plan available; paid Plus and Pro plans (OpenAI's pricing page did not load for us, so check the price for your country)
2. Claude
Longer, on-brand writing and planning, and connecting to your tools
Claude, from Anthropic, writes in a natural voice that needs less editing, which suits LinkedIn posts, newsletters turned into threads and content calendars. It handles long documents well, so you can paste a brand guide or a blog post and ask for a week of posts from it. Custom connectors using remote MCP are available on the free plan too, limited to one there, so Claude can work with a scheduler through its MCP server.
Pros
- Natural, less formulaic writing that needs fewer edits
- Works well from long inputs such as brand guides or articles
- Custom MCP connectors on every plan, the free plan included
Cons
- Cannot publish to social networks on its own

- Usage limits on the free plan are tighter than on paid plans
Verdict: The best pick for long-form and on-brand writing, and an easy one to connect to a scheduler.

3. Gemini
Google Workspace users who want writing, images and video in one subscription
Gemini, from Google, covers writing plus image and video generation, and on Google AI Pro it works inside Gmail and Docs, which helps if your content plans live in Google Workspace. The Google AI Plus tier is one of the cheapest paid AI plans here.
Pros
- Image and video generation alongside writing
- Works inside Gmail and Docs on Google AI Pro
- A low-priced Google AI Plus tier

4. Canva
Designing post images, carousels and Stories with AI help
Canva is where many social media graphics get made: Pro unlocks more than 3.6 million templates, design in bulk and AI features inside the editor. Canva groups its AI tools into Standard, Premium and Ultra tiers that draw on one shared AI allowance at different rates, Business includes more AI than Pro, and the AI Pass add-on raises the allowance on either plan.
Pros
- Huge template library for posts, carousels and Stories
- AI tools inside the same editor as your designs
- A free plan, and a free trial of Pro or Business
Cons
- Every AI tool draws on a shared allowance, and advanced tools use it faster

13. Postify
Letting the AI assistant you already use schedule and publish your posts
Postify has no built-in AI writer. Instead, it runs an MCP server on every plan, Hobby included, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client can work in your Postify account after you sign in with OAuth. Your assistant drafts the posts, then creates, schedules and publishes them to the nine networks Postify supports: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest and Plative. It can also read analytics, manage the queue and, on plans that include them, answer the inbox and create client approval links. What the assistant can do follows your plan.
Pros
- MCP server on every plan, Hobby included, for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients
- Sign in with OAuth, so no password or API key goes into the chat
- Your assistant can draft, schedule, publish and read analytics in one conversation
- Client approval links from the Pro plan, to keep a person signing off on AI drafts

Cons
- No built-in AI writer: the writing comes from your own assistant
- No free plan, and Hobby is tight: 1 brand, 1 user and 15 posts per month
- No Bluesky, Google Business Profile or Mastodon
- Your assistant may need a paid plan of its own to use custom connectors

Pricing: From €9.99 per month (€8.33 per month billed yearly) for Hobby: 1 brand, 1 user and 15 posts per month, up to €199.94 per month for Agency. The MCP server is included on every plan
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI tool for social media posts?
- For writing captions and post ideas, ChatGPT and Claude are the strongest general assistants, and both have free plans. For images, Canva. For short video, CapCut. If you want the AI inside your scheduler, Buffer includes its AI Assistant on every plan, the free one included. Most people combine two or three tools.
- Is there an AI social media manager that posts for you?
- Yes, with a connection. An AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can schedule and publish posts once you connect it to a scheduler through an MCP connector. Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool and Postify all publish one. You still set the strategy and should review posts before they go live.
- Can ChatGPT post directly to Instagram?
- Not on its own. ChatGPT has no login to your Instagram account. It can post through a scheduling tool that has an MCP connector: you add the connector, sign in to the tool, and ChatGPT can then create and schedule posts there. Custom MCP servers depend on your account and workspace settings.
- Are free AI tools good enough for social media?
- For a small account, often yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all have free plans for writing, Canva and Adobe Express have free plans for design, CapCut is free for basic video editing, and Buffer's AI Assistant is free. Paid plans mostly add higher usage limits, more AI credits and team features.
- Does Postify have an AI writer?
- No. Postify has no built-in AI writer. It runs an MCP server on every plan instead, so the assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, can write your posts and then create, schedule and publish them in your Postify account after you sign in.
