Facebook Cover Photo Resizer
Crop any image to 851 x 315, the size Facebook says a Page cover loads fastest at, and see the result before it goes up.
Last updated: 2026-10-25
Facebook says a Page cover loads fastest as an 851 x 315 sRGB JPG under 100 KB, and it has to be at least 400 x 150. JPG and PNG both work. Those numbers come from the Facebook help page on Page images, and the tool crops to 851 x 315.
The cover is then shown at a different ratio per screen: 16:9 on desktop and 2.4:1 on mobile, where the profile picture also overlaps the left of the cover. Facebook publishes no safe area rectangle, so the tool shows the plain crop. Keep the important part toward the centre and away from the left edge.
It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. With the new cover in place, plan the posts that go under it: Postify schedules posts to your Facebook Page ahead of time.
Your image never leaves your browser. The crop and the export both run on your device, and nothing is uploaded to us. HEIC photos straight from an iPhone only decode in Safari, so export a JPEG copy first if yours will not open.

Export format
0.85 is the safe default. Push to 0.95 for images with text, drop toward 0.7 only when you are fighting a tight file size cap.
Re-encoding through canvas also drops the EXIF block, so the file you download carries no GPS coordinates, camera model or timestamp.

Tips
- Aim for under 100 KB if speed matters. Facebook says an sRGB JPG at that size loads fastest. It is advice, not a limit.
- Keep the left side clear for mobile. The profile picture overlaps the left of the cover there, so text or a logo on that side can disappear behind it.
- Do not start below 400 x 150. That is the smallest cover Facebook asks for, and a cover stretched up from a small source looks soft on a large screen.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a Facebook cover photo?
For a Facebook Page, 851 x 315 pixels is the size Facebook says loads fastest, ideally as an sRGB JPG under 100 KB. The minimum is 400 x 150, and JPG and PNG are both accepted. Facebook publishes no file size cap for covers.
Why does my Facebook cover look cropped on my phone?
Facebook shows the cover at 2.4:1 on mobile and 16:9 on desktop, so each screen trims a different part of the same image, and on mobile the profile picture sits over the left side. Keep the subject near the centre.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The crop happens with canvas inside this tab and the file goes to your downloads folder. Nothing reaches Postify or Facebook until you upload the cover yourself.
