Use Postify in ChatGPT

ChatGPT on the web can connect to remote MCP servers as custom plugins. Add Postify there and ChatGPT can use the same tools as any other client.

Status: we have not yet confirmed a full session in ChatGPT from start to finish. The Postify server meets the requirements OpenAI publishes for custom MCP servers (Streamable HTTP and OAuth sign-in), so the steps below should work, but ChatGPT changes this area often. If something fails, tell us what you saw and use Claude in the meantime.

Set it up

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins in your browser, choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it Postify and paste the server URL.
  3. Choose OAuth as the authentication method, confirm the warning and choose Create as a plugin.
  4. Install the plugin and sign in to Postify in the window that opens.
  5. In a new chat, type @Postify to use it.

Good to know

  • Custom MCP plugins are a ChatGPT web feature and depend on your ChatGPT plan. A workspace admin can turn custom servers off.
  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions that change data. Postify labels every tool as read only or not, so ChatGPT knows which ones those are.
  • The names of these settings in ChatGPT change from time to time. If a step looks different, look for custom MCP servers or connectors.

It is built to: the server speaks the transport and sign-in method ChatGPT uses for custom MCP servers. We have not yet confirmed a full session end to end, so treat ChatGPT support as unconfirmed for now. Claude is confirmed.
Is Postify in the ChatGPT app directory?
Not yet. Today you add it yourself as a custom MCP server.

That is decided by OpenAI and has changed over time. Check the ChatGPT help center for the current list.
