The best Threads schedulers in 2026
Can you schedule posts on Threads? The Threads help center, read on 22 October 2026, documents drafts but no scheduling option, so the documented routes are Meta Business Suite, which cross-posts Facebook and Instagram posts to Threads on desktop, and third-party tools that publish through the Threads API. We compared four schedulers on what they publish directly, using Meta's Threads API documentation and each vendor's own pages.

TL;DR: Postify is our pick if Threads is one of several networks you manage: text, photos, videos, carousels of up to 20 items and polls publish directly, with Threads replies in a shared inbox, but it does not post multi-post threads. Buffer and Metricool both schedule multi-post threads, Metricool also handles ghost posts and spoilers, and Publer adds alt text and conditional follow-up posts.

Can you schedule posts on Threads?
Not reliably. Meta announced scheduling on threads.com in August 2024, but the Threads help center, read on 22 October 2026, documents drafts and no scheduling steps. To schedule, use a third-party scheduler that publishes through the Threads API, or cross-post a Facebook or Instagram post to Threads from Meta Business Suite on desktop.
Drafts are the closest built-in feature. Threads saves a draft of a post you start, but a draft saved on threads.com is only available there, and one saved in the app stays in the app. Once a post is live, you can edit its text for 15 minutes.
Meta Business Suite can cross-post a Facebook or Instagram post to Threads, on desktop only, once the Threads profile is added to the business portfolio. That suits accounts whose Threads posts repeat their Instagram captions. For Threads-first writing, with polls, carousels or chains of posts of its own, a scheduler that posts through the Threads API is the more practical route.
Threads changes quickly. If threads.com or your app shows a scheduling option, use it for Threads-only posts; it will still only cover Threads.
What should a Threads scheduler do?
A Threads scheduler should publish text, photo, video and carousel posts directly, respect the 500-character limit, and support the Threads features you actually use: multi-post threads, polls, reply controls or spoilers. Then compare whether Threads replies land in a shared inbox, how the tool fits your other networks, and the price for one brand.
Multi-post threads are the biggest difference between tools. If you post long ideas as a chain of connected posts, you need a scheduler that publishes the follow-ups in order: Buffer supports up to 25 posts in one thread on the web, and Metricool up to 80. Postify publishes single posts only.
Newer Threads features vary more. Polls, long text attachments, ghost posts that disappear after 24 hours and spoiler blurs can all be published by apps, but each tool picks which ones it supports, and quote posts are often left out: Buffer says scheduling quotes or reposts in advance is not possible.
Replies are the last check. Threads is a conversation network, so a scheduler that brings replies into an inbox saves switching apps; Buffer and Postify both do.
What does the Threads API let a scheduler publish?
The Threads API lets apps publish text, image, video and carousel posts of 2 to 20 items, with up to 500 characters of text. Each profile can publish 250 posts and 1,000 replies through the API in 24 hours. Polls, text attachments of up to 10,000 characters, reply controls and quote posts are supported too.
These limits are the same for every app, so they set the ceiling for any scheduler. Images can be JPEG or PNG of up to 8 MB and 320 to 1,440 pixels wide; videos can be MOV or MP4 of up to five minutes and 1 GB. A post can carry at most five links and one topic tag of 1 to 50 characters.
Polls take 2 to 4 options of up to 25 characters each and work only on text posts. A text attachment adds up to 10,000 characters of styled text to a text-only post, but not alongside a poll. Reply controls let the author limit replies to everyone, accounts they follow, people they mention, their followers, or the author of the original post.
Replies go through the same API, which is how a scheduler can build a multi-post thread: each follow-up is published as a reply to the post before it.
- Text: up to 500 characters, up to 5 links, one topic tag.
- Images: JPEG or PNG, up to 8 MB, 320 to 1,440 pixels wide.
- Videos: MOV or MP4, up to 5 minutes and 1 GB, 23 to 60 frames per second.
- Carousels: 2 to 20 images or videos.
- Limits: 250 API-published posts and 1,000 replies per profile in 24 hours.
Which Threads schedulers support multi-post threads, polls and carousels?
Buffer, Metricool and Publer all schedule multi-post threads, from up to 25 posts in Buffer to 80 in Metricool; Postify publishes single posts only. Postify supports polls, ghost posts and spoilers, and Metricool documents ghost posts and image spoilers. Carousels range from 10 photos in Buffer and Publer to 20 items in Postify and Metricool.
The table sums up the Threads features we could verify on each vendor's own pages. "Not documented" means we did not find the feature on the official pages, not that it is missing. Prices are list prices for the cheapest paid plan in US dollars; Postify bills in euros, so compare at your own exchange rate.

1. Postify
Threads alongside other networks, with polls and Threads replies in one inbox
Postify publishes Threads text posts, photos, videos of up to five minutes and carousels of 2 to 20 photos or videos directly, with up to 500 characters of text. The composer covers Threads options that many tools skip: polls, text attachments of up to 10,000 characters, ghost posts that disappear after 24 hours, spoiler blurs, reply controls, link attachments and sharing the post to your Instagram Story. From the Plus plan, Threads replies land in the inbox next to your other networks. The calendar also publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest and Plative, our own social network, nine platforms in all. Every plan includes Postify Link and our MCP server, so your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, can draft and schedule Threads posts for you. It does not post multi-post threads or quote posts.
Pros
- Text, photos, videos and carousels of up to 20 items publish directly
- Polls, text attachments, ghost posts and spoilers in the composer
- Threads replies in the inbox from the Plus plan
- Optional sharing to your Instagram Story
- Link in bio page and MCP server access on every plan
- A free 7-day trial on every plan
Cons
- No multi-post threads: each Threads post goes out on its own
- No quote posts and no first comment on Threads
- Best-time suggestions cover Instagram only, not Threads
- No free plan, and the entry plan is 1 brand, 1 user and 15 posts a month
- No built-in AI writer, no CSV upload, and no public REST API, Zapier or Make (the MCP server is the programmatic route)
Verdict: Pick Postify when Threads is one of several networks and you post single updates, polls and carousels rather than long chains. If you write multi-post threads, Buffer or Metricool will publish the whole chain; if you mostly repeat Instagram captions, Meta Business Suite cross-posting may be enough.
Pricing: From €9.99 per month (€8.33 billed yearly) for 1 brand, 1 user and 15 posts per month; queues, recurring posts and the inbox from the Plus plan
2. Buffer
Multi-post threads and Threads replies on a small budget
Buffer schedules Threads posts with text, links, topics, carousels of 2 to 10 photos and videos of up to five minutes and 1 GB. On the web it publishes multi-post threads of up to 25 posts, on the Free, Essentials and Team plans, and Threads replies appear in its Community inbox. Buffer is clear about the gaps: quotes and reposts cannot be scheduled in advance, and alt text and GIFs are not supported on Threads.
Pros
- Multi-post threads of up to 25 posts, Free plan included
- Threads replies in the Community inbox
- Free plan for 3 channels
Cons
- No alt text or GIFs on Threads
- Quotes and reposts cannot be scheduled
- Multi-post threads on the web only
Verdict: Pick Buffer if you write multi-post threads, want replies in one place, and run only a few channels.
Pricing: Free for 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel; Essentials $6 per channel per month ($5 billed yearly); 14-day trial
3. Metricool
Long multi-post threads and Threads extras such as ghost posts
Metricool schedules Threads posts of up to 500 characters with up to 20 images or videos, videos of up to five minutes and 1 GB, and threads of up to 80 posts. The composer adds reply controls, ghost posts and image spoilers. Metricool also offers an MCP server on every plan, Free included.

- Ghost posts, image spoilers and reply controls
- Free plan for 1 brand and 20 posts per month

Verdict: Pick Metricool if you write long threads and want the most Threads options, with a free plan to start on.
Pricing: Free for 1 brand and 20 posts per month; Starter $25 per month billed monthly or $20 billed yearly, for up to 5 brands
4. Publer
Threads with alt text, automatic thread splitting and conditional follow-ups
Publer schedules Threads posts with a video, a link or up to 10 photos, plus alt text. Multi-post threads can be built by hand or split automatically from long text, and follow-up posts can wait for a delay or for a reach or engagement threshold. AutoShare can post the published thread to the linked Instagram account's Story. Paid plans are priced per social account, and the Business plan adds Publer's API and MCP server.
Pros
- Alt text on Threads images
- Automatic splitting of long text into a thread
- Follow-up posts on a delay or an engagement condition
- AutoShare to Instagram Stories

Frequently asked questions
- Can you schedule posts on Threads?
- Not reliably in Threads itself. Meta announced scheduling on threads.com in August 2024, but the help center we read on 22 October 2026 documents drafts and no scheduling steps. You can schedule Threads posts with a third-party tool such as Postify, Buffer, Metricool or Publer, or cross-post from Facebook or Instagram with Meta Business Suite on desktop.
- What is the best Threads scheduler?
- For Threads as part of a wider plan, with polls, carousels and replies handled next to your other networks, we recommend Postify. For multi-post threads, Buffer and Metricool are stronger, and Publer adds alt text and conditional follow-ups. We make Postify, so weigh it against the criteria above.
- Can you schedule Threads posts for free?
- Yes. Buffer, Metricool and Publer have free plans with post caps, and Buffer's includes multi-post threads. Postify has no free plan, but every plan starts with a free 7-day trial.
- Can you schedule a multi-post thread?
- Yes, with Buffer (up to 25 posts, on the web), Metricool (up to 80 posts) or Publer, which can also split long text into a thread for you. Postify publishes single Threads posts, so a chain has to be finished in the Threads app.
- How many Threads posts can an app publish per day?
- Meta allows 250 API-published posts and 1,000 replies per Threads profile in a rolling 24-hour period. That is far above normal posting, so in practice the limits that matter are each scheduler's own plan caps.
- Can you schedule quote posts on Threads?
- The Threads API supports quote posts, but schedulers rarely offer them. Buffer says scheduling quotes or reposts in advance is not possible, and Postify does not support them either. Quote in the Threads app when the moment comes.
- Does Postify show Threads replies?
- Yes, from the Plus plan. Replies to your Threads posts appear in Postify's inbox next to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube and Plative, and you can answer them there. The inbox covers replies, not messages, and the Hobby and Starter plans have no inbox.
