The best social media tools for small businesses in 2026

A small business rarely has a social media team. It has an owner, maybe one helper, a handful of accounts and customers who expect a reply the same day. The right tool is the one that fits that reality: the networks your customers actually use, a price that grows the way your business grows, and a phone app good enough to run things between other jobs. Here are seven tools judged on exactly that.

TL;DR: Postify (ours) suits small businesses that sell through Instagram, Facebook and the other big networks and want one calendar, an inbox and a phone app. Buffer is the cheapest way to start with a few channels. Meta Business Suite covers Facebook and Instagram on their own. If Google Business Profile matters, look at Metricool or SocialBee, because Postify does not support it.

By the Postify team at Businice S.R.L. Postify makes this site. We list ourselves first and say where other tools are stronger.

What is the best social media management tool for a small business?

The best tool for a small business covers the networks your customers use, lets one or two people reply quickly and costs little at your size. Postify (ours) fits businesses led by Instagram and Facebook, Buffer is the cheapest start for a few channels, and Metricool or SocialBee suit businesses that also post to Google Business Profile.

There is no single winner because small businesses differ more than agencies do. A cafe lives on Instagram, Facebook and its Google listing. A local accountant needs LinkedIn and a calm inbox. A shop selling online wants TikTok, Pinterest and a link-in-bio page that sends people to products. Start from the networks, then the people, then the price.

If you only post to Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite may be all you need. Once you add TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube or Pinterest, a dedicated tool saves you from logging in to each app every day.

What does a small business need from a social media tool?

A small business needs five things: publishing to every network its customers use, a single inbox so comments and messages are not missed, a phone app for posting on the go, a price unit that stays cheap at one brand, and setup simple enough that the owner can run it alone. Everything else is optional at this size.

Agency features such as white-label reports and multi-client workspaces add cost without helping a single business. What does help is the boring part done well: posts that publish without a phone reminder, captions you can adjust per network, and replies you can send from the same place you scheduled the post.

  • Networks: check that every network you use is supported directly, including Stories and Reels if you post them.
  • Inbox: comments and direct messages in one place, so a customer question on Instagram is not missed.
  • Phone app: most owners post between other jobs, so a good iOS and Android app matters more than a big desktop dashboard.
  • Price unit: per channel, per brand, per workspace or per user. The cheapest unit depends on how many accounts and people you have.
  • Local reach: if your Google Business Profile drives walk-in customers, make sure the tool supports it.

Which social media tools support Google Business Profile?

Among the tools here, Buffer, Metricool, SocialBee and Planable list Google Business Profile on their own pricing pages, and Agorapulse counts it toward its profile limit. Postify does not support Google Business Profile, and Meta Business Suite covers only Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. If local search drives your customers, that alone is a good reason to pick another tool.

For a restaurant, salon, gym or repair shop, Google Business Profile updates can matter as much as Instagram, because they appear where people search for you on Google. Posting there from the same calendar saves a step every week.

Metricool connects one Google Business Profile location per brand and includes it in its inbox. Buffer and SocialBee treat it as one more channel or profile on your plan. Planable supports it for teams that approve posts before they go out. Postify publishes to Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest and Plative, but not to Google Business Profile, so a business that depends on its Google listing should choose one of the tools above.

How do social media tool prices add up for a small business?

Prices add up by unit: Buffer charges per channel, Metricool per bundle of brands, Later per social set, Planable per workspace, and Postify and SocialBee per plan with a set number of profiles. Count your accounts and people first, then price each tool at that size, because the cheapest entry price is not always the cheapest bill.

Per channel pricing, as at Buffer, is very cheap for two or three accounts and grows steadily with each one you add. Per brand or per plan pricing, as at Postify, Metricool and SocialBee, costs the same whether you connect two networks or seven for that brand, so it favors businesses that post everywhere.

Watch the limits as well as the price. Later's Starter plan allows 30 posts per profile per month, Planable's Basic plan 60 posts per workspace per month, and Postify's Hobby plan 15 posts per month in total, while the higher plans of each lift those caps. Postify bills in euros and most of the others list US dollars, so convert at your own rate rather than trusting a quick comparison.

Entry list prices and price units, as each vendor published them on 22 October 2026
ToolPrice unitEntry paid planFree plan
PostifyPer plan (Hobby: one brand, one user)€9.99 per month, €8.33 billed yearlyNo

MetricoolPer bundle of brands$25 per month for up to 5 brands, $20 billed yearlyYes, 1 brand, 20 posts a month
SocialBeePer plan$29 per month for 5 profiles, $24.20 billed yearlyNo
LaterPer social set$18.75 per month billed yearly for 1 social setHelp center lists 12 posts per profile a month; not on the pricing page
PlanablePer workspace$39 per workspace per month, $33 billed yearly50 posts in total

Which small business tools let you reply to comments and messages?

Postify (from its Plus plan), SocialBee, Metricool, Meta Business Suite and Later (from its Growth plan) all include a place to answer comments or messages. Buffer lists comment replies on every plan, and Planable sells its Social Inbox as a paid add-on. Check which networks each inbox covers, because none covers every network equally.

Postify's inbox brings direct messages from Facebook, Instagram and Plative and comments from Facebook, Instagram, Plative, LinkedIn, Threads, X and YouTube into one list, with comment-to-DM automations for Facebook and Instagram. It has no TikTok or Pinterest inbox. SocialBee lists comments, mentions and direct messages for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube and X. Meta Business Suite handles messages from Facebook, Messenger and Instagram on desktop and mobile.

How we checked

On 22 October 2026 we read each vendor's own pricing or product page and compared what a one or two person business needs: the networks covered, Google Business Profile support, the inbox, the phone app, the price unit (per channel, per brand, per workspace or per plan) and what the entry plan really includes. We build Postify, so it is listed first. The others are ordered by how well they fit a small business that posts to several networks, not by price alone. Competitor prices are in US dollars as the vendors list them, before tax. Postify bills in euros, so convert at your own rate before comparing, and confirm current pricing with each vendor before you buy.

1. Postify

Small businesses that sell through Instagram, Facebook and the other big networks

Postify publishes to nine platforms from one calendar: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest and Plative, our own social network. Instagram connects through Instagram Login, and photos, Reels, carousels and Stories publish directly with no phone reminder. One post can carry a different caption for each network, the calendar shows everything going out, and a feed grid preview shows how Instagram and TikTok posts will sit on your profile. Every plan includes Postify Link, a link-in-bio page, analytics and the iOS and Android apps, with home screen widgets on iOS. From the Plus plan you get the unified inbox, first comments, queue time slots and comment-to-DM automations for Instagram and Facebook. The Postify MCP server also lets your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, draft and schedule posts in your account.

Pros

  • +Direct publishing to Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X and Pinterest, including Instagram Stories
  • +Per plan pricing: adding networks for the same brand does not raise the bill
  • +iOS and Android apps (with widgets on iOS), so you can post and check results from your phone
  • +Link in bio page and analytics on every plan
  • +Best-time-to-post suggestions for Instagram from the Starter plan
  • +A free 7-day trial on every plan

Cons

  • -No free plan, and the Hobby plan is tight: one brand, one user and 15 posts a month, with no inbox or first comments
  • -No Google Business Profile, Bluesky or Mastodon, which matters for local businesses
  • -The inbox needs the Plus plan and has no TikTok or Pinterest coverage
  • -No built-in AI writer, no CSV upload, and no public API, Zapier or Make (the MCP server is the programmatic route)

Verdict: Pick Postify if your customers find you on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube and you want one calendar, one inbox and a solid phone app for a single brand. Pick Metricool or SocialBee instead if Google Business Profile drives your walk-in customers, or Buffer if you want to start free.

Pricing: From €9.99 per month (€8.33 billed yearly) on Hobby: one brand, one user and 15 posts a month. Starter adds a second user and unlimited posts; Plus adds the inbox and three brands.

2. Buffer

Businesses with a few channels that want a free or very cheap start

Buffer prices per connected channel, which makes it the cheapest way to schedule for two or three accounts. The free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and one user. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Google Business Profiles, and lists Start Page, its link-in-bio page, as a channel. Comment replies, an AI assistant and an MCP server for your own AI assistant come on every plan, and Buffer has iOS and Android apps. The Team plan adds unlimited team members, approval workflows and custom permissions.

Pros

  • +Free plan for 3 channels, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans
  • +Publishes to Google Business Profiles, Bluesky and Mastodon as well as the major networks
  • +Very low cost when you only run two or three accounts
  • +API access on every plan, including Free

Cons

  • -The bill grows with every channel you add
  • -The pricing page lists comment replies, not direct messages
  • -Approvals and permissions need the Team plan

Verdict: Pick Buffer if you post to a few channels and want to start free or pay very little. It gets less attractive as you add channels, or if you need direct messages in the same inbox.

Pricing: Free for up to 3 channels; Essentials $6 per channel per month ($5 billed yearly); Team $12 per channel per month ($10 billed yearly)

3. Meta Business Suite

Businesses that only post to Facebook and Instagram

Meta Business Suite is Meta's own tool for managing Facebook, Messenger and Instagram from one place. You can create and schedule posts, Stories and ads, see notifications, reply to messages and read insights, on desktop or on mobile. Because it comes from Meta, it supports Facebook and Instagram formats directly, but it covers nothing outside Meta.

Pros

  • +Built by Meta for Facebook, Messenger and Instagram
  • +Schedules posts, Stories and ads in one place
  • +Messages and notifications on desktop and mobile

Cons

  • -Only Facebook, Messenger and Instagram: no TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, X or Google Business Profile
  • -No cross-network calendar if you also post elsewhere

Verdict: Pick Meta Business Suite if Facebook and Instagram are your only networks. As soon as you add TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube, a multi-network tool saves you from posting twice.

Pricing: Free on desktop and in the Meta Business Suite mobile app

4. Metricool

Local businesses that want Google Business Profile, analytics and a free start

Metricool combines scheduling, analytics and an inbox, and prices by bundles of brands rather than by channel. It connects Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile, with one Google Business Profile location per brand, and X as a paid add-on. The free plan covers one brand and 20 posts a month, with 30 days of analytics, but excludes LinkedIn and X. SmartLinks, its link-in-bio page, comes from the Starter plan, and its MCP server is available on the free plan.

Pros

  • +Google Business Profile in scheduling and in the inbox
  • +Free plan for one brand, with an MCP server included
  • +Starter covers up to 5 brands, useful if you run more than one business
  • +Analytics, competitor tracking and reports are core features

Cons

  • -X is a paid add-on on every plan
  • -The free plan has no LinkedIn or X and only 20 posts a month
  • -Team roles and post approval need the Advanced plan

Verdict: Pick Metricool if Google Business Profile matters to you and you want analytics without a big bill. Skip it if you post heavily to X and do not want an add-on.

Pricing: Free for 1 brand; Starter $25 per month for up to 5 brands ($20 billed yearly); Advanced $67 per month for up to 15 brands ($53 billed yearly)

5. SocialBee

Businesses that recycle evergreen posts by category

SocialBee organizes posts into content categories, so you can keep a steady mix of offers, tips and behind-the-scenes posts and recycle the ones that still work. It supports Google Business Profile and Bluesky alongside the major networks, and its engagement view covers comments, mentions and direct messages on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube and X. AI content generation is included, and post approval starts on the Accelerate plan.

Pros

  • +Content categories make a steady posting mix easy to keep up
  • +Google Business Profile and Bluesky support
  • +Comments, mentions and direct messages for six networks in one place
  • +14-day trial with no card, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons

  • -No free plan, and Bootstrap includes one user
  • -Post approval needs the Accelerate plan

Verdict: Pick SocialBee if you want a set-and-forget mix of recurring posts and need Google Business Profile. Look elsewhere if two people need to work in it on the entry plan.

Pricing: Bootstrap $29 per month for 5 profiles ($24.20 billed yearly); Accelerate $49 for 10 profiles ($40.80 billed yearly); Pro $99 for 25 profiles ($82.50 billed yearly)

6. Later

Visual brands that plan Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest first

Later is built around visual planning. A social set includes one profile from each network Later supports: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat. Every plan includes the iOS and Android apps, the visual planner and Link in Bio. The Starter plan allows 30 posts per profile per month and three months of analytics; the Social Inbox starts on the Growth plan.

Pros

  • +Visual planner and Link in Bio on every plan
  • +iOS and Android apps on every plan
  • +Supports Snapchat, which few tools here do
  • +14-day trial

Cons

  • -No X publishing
  • -Starter caps you at 30 posts per profile per month and one user
  • -The inbox needs the Growth plan
  • -No Google Business Profile

Verdict: Pick Later if your business sells visually on Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest and you want the planning to feel like arranging a feed. Skip it if you rely on X or Google Business Profile.

Pricing: Starter $18.75 per month billed yearly (1 social set of 8 profiles, 1 user); Growth $37.50 per month billed yearly (2 social sets, 2 users)

7. Planable

Owners who approve posts written by a freelancer or a part-time helper

Planable is built around review and approval. Basic includes unlimited users, 4 social pages and 60 posts per workspace per month, with optional approvals; Pro raises that to 10 pages and 150 posts, adds required approvals and a grid view. It supports Google Business Profile and Threads among its networks, and its MCP connector is on every plan. Analytics and the Social Inbox are paid add-ons.

Pros

  • +Clear approval flow when someone else writes your posts
  • +Unlimited users on every plan
  • +Google Business Profile support
  • +Free start with 50 posts and no card

Cons

  • -Analytics and the Social Inbox cost extra
  • -Monthly post caps per workspace
  • -No X publishing during the free start

Verdict: Pick Planable if a freelancer or helper drafts your posts and you want to approve each one before it goes out. For an owner who writes and posts alone, its approval focus is more than you need.

Pricing: Basic $39 per workspace per month ($33 billed yearly); Pro $59 per workspace per month ($49 billed yearly); first 50 posts free

Frequently asked questions

What is the easiest social media tool for a small business?
The easiest is the one that covers your networks without extra setup. If you only use Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite is the simplest. For several networks, Buffer, Postify and Later all have iOS and Android apps; choose by the networks you use and how you want to pay.
Is there a free social media tool for small business?
Yes. Buffer has a free plan for 3 channels, Metricool a free plan for one brand with 20 posts a month, and Planable lets you create 50 posts free. Postify has no free plan. See our guide to free social media schedulers for the limits of each.
Can I manage my Google Business Profile with these tools?
With some of them. Buffer, Metricool, SocialBee and Planable support Google Business Profile, and Agorapulse counts it toward its profile limit. Postify, Later and Meta Business Suite do not, so pick one of the others if local search matters to your business.
Do I need a separate tool for my link in bio?
Usually not. Postify includes a link-in-bio page on every plan, Later includes Link in Bio on every plan, Metricool includes SmartLinks from its Starter plan, and Buffer offers Start Page. A separate tool only makes sense if you need a full storefront.
Can my AI assistant post for my business?
Yes, through an MCP connector. Postify, Buffer, Metricool and Planable each offer an MCP server that lets an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT draft and schedule posts in your account. You still review what goes out.
