YouTube Profile Picture Resizer
YouTube shows your channel picture as a 98 x 98 circle. Crop your photo square, see it inside the circle, and download it ready to upload.
Last updated: 2026-10-25
The YouTube branding help page gives one size for the channel picture: it renders at 98 x 98 pixels, as a circle. YouTube publishes no separate upload size, so this tool exports at that 98 x 98 render size. The file can be JPG, GIF, BMP or PNG (not an animated GIF), up to 15 MB.
At 98 pixels across, detail disappears fast. This resizer crops your image square and lays the circle on top, so you can check that a face or a logo still reads once the corners are gone.
The crop runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. With the channel picture set, plan the videos that go with it: Postify can schedule your YouTube uploads ahead of time.
Your image never leaves your browser. The crop and the export both run on your device, and nothing is uploaded to us. HEIC photos straight from an iPhone only decode in Safari, so export a JPEG copy first if yours will not open.

Export format
0.85 is the safe default. Push to 0.95 for images with text, drop toward 0.7 only when you are fighting a tight file size cap.
Re-encoding through canvas also drops the EXIF block, so the file you download carries no GPS coordinates, camera model or timestamp.

Tips
- Fill the circle. At 98 x 98 a face that takes up half the frame is a blur, so crop close and let the shoulders go.
- Use a simple mark, not a wordmark. Small text inside a 98 pixel circle is hard to read.
- Skip the animation. YouTube accepts GIF for the channel picture but not animated GIFs, so export a still frame.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a YouTube profile picture?
YouTube renders it at 98 x 98 pixels as a circle and publishes no other upload size. JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG are accepted, animated GIFs are not, and the file can be up to 15 MB.
Why does my YouTube profile picture look cut off?
YouTube shows it as a circle, so the corners of your square are never seen. Keep the subject in the middle with some space around it, and use the circle preview here to check before you upload.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is cropped with canvas inside this tab and the result goes to your downloads folder. Nothing reaches Postify or YouTube until you upload the picture yourself.
