YouTube Banner Resizer
Crop any image to the 2560 x 1440 YouTube recommends, with the safe area drawn on top, so your channel name and logo land in the part of the banner every screen shows.
Last updated: 2026-10-25
YouTube asks for a 2560 x 1440 banner at 16:9, accepts nothing smaller than 2048 x 1152, and caps the file at 6 MB. Then it shows only part of it. Different screens get a different slice of the same image, and the part YouTube keeps visible everywhere is a 1235 x 338 area, stated at the 2048 x 1152 minimum.
That is why so many channel banners lose their text on a phone. This resizer crops your image to 2560 x 1440 and draws the safe area on top, scaled up from the 2048 x 1152 canvas YouTube states it against, so you can see what survives before you upload.
The crop happens in your browser with canvas. Nothing is uploaded, and the finished banner goes to your downloads. Once it is live on the channel, plan the videos that go under it: Postify can schedule your YouTube uploads ahead of time.
Your image never leaves your browser. The crop and the export both run on your device, and nothing is uploaded to us. HEIC photos straight from an iPhone only decode in Safari, so export a JPEG copy first if yours will not open.

Export format
0.85 is the safe default. Push to 0.95 for images with text, drop toward 0.7 only when you are fighting a tight file size cap.
Re-encoding through canvas also drops the EXIF block, so the file you download carries no GPS coordinates, camera model or timestamp.

Tips
- Keep every word and logo inside the safe area. Anything outside it is decoration: it may show on a wide screen and disappear on a phone.
- Fill the whole 16:9 frame with background, not a solid border. The parts outside the safe area still show on larger screens, so a photo or pattern that runs to the edges looks deliberate wherever the crop lands.
- Export at 2560 x 1440 and check the file is 6 MB or less. If a detailed PNG goes over, a JPG of the same banner is usually far smaller with no visible difference.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a YouTube banner?
2560 x 1440 pixels at 16:9 is the recommendation, 2048 x 1152 is the minimum, and the file has to be 6 MB or smaller. The safe area that shows on every screen is 1235 x 338 at the 2048 x 1152 size, in the middle of the image.
Why is my YouTube banner cut off on mobile?
YouTube crops the same banner differently for each screen, and a phone gets a narrow strip of it. Only the 1235 x 338 safe area (at 2048 x 1152) is meant to show everywhere, so move text and logos inside the lines this tool draws.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is cropped with canvas inside this tab and the result goes to your downloads folder. Nothing reaches Postify or YouTube until you upload the banner yourself in YouTube Studio.
