TikTok Video Length Checker
TikTok refuses anything under 3 seconds, and video posted through the content posting API stops at 10 minutes. Drop a file in and see how its length compares.
Last updated: 2026-10-25
The TikTok length limit depends on how the video gets there. Uploads through the content posting API, the route scheduling tools use, run from 3 seconds to 10 minutes. Some accounts can upload up to 60 minutes from the desktop uploader, but that is not the limit a scheduled post meets.
Length is usually the only number that matters. TikTok accepts 4 GB per file, so a 10 minute vertical export rarely hits the size cap first. The minimum catches people too: a 2 second loop made for another network is refused outright.
This checker reads the duration of your file first, then its size and shape, all in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the file never leaves your device.
Your file never leaves your browser. The dimensions are read on your device and nothing is uploaded to us.
Pick a file and every TikTok format is checked against it at once.
The full spec sheet is below, so you can read the numbers without uploading anything.
TikTok video and image specs
Every TikTok surface with its own limits, in one place. These are the platform ceilings, so an upload that clears them still has to clear whatever your publishing tool allows.
TikTok Video post
| Max file size | 4 GB |
|---|---|
| Duration | 3 seconds to 10 minutes |
| Recommended size | 1080 x 1920 |
| Minimum size | 360 pixels wide |
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 recommended, 1:1.78 to 1.78:1 accepted |
| File types | MP4, MOV, WEBM |
- 10 minutes is the limit for uploads through the content posting API. Some accounts can go to 60 minutes from the desktop uploader.
- The caption, the sound label and the action rail cover the lower part of the frame and its right edge. Exactly how much depends on the device and the app version.
- TikTok compresses hard on upload. A clean 1080 x 1920 H.264 export survives it better than a heavy 4K file.
TikTok Photo post
| Max file size | 20 MB |
|---|---|
| Recommended size | 1080 x 1920 |
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 recommended, 1:1.78 to 1.78:1 accepted |
| File types | JPG, WEBP |
- A photo post carries up to 35 images and the first one becomes the cover.
- The publishing API accepts JPEG and WEBP rather than PNG, so convert PNG exports before scheduling them.

TikTok export tips
- Trim to 10 minutes or less before scheduling. Past that, the content posting API refuses the upload even if your account can post longer videos from the desktop site.
- Pad anything shorter than 3 seconds. A quick loop made for another network needs a few extra frames before it can post here at all.
- Export at 1080 x 1920 in 9:16. TikTok accepts 16:9, but wider footage is letterboxed and gives up most of the screen.
Frequently asked questions
How long can a TikTok video be?
Up to 10 minutes through the content posting API that scheduling tools use, and up to 60 minutes for some accounts uploading from the desktop site. The minimum is 3 seconds.
What is the shortest video TikTok accepts?
3 seconds. Anything shorter is rejected, so extend or loop a very short clip before you upload it.
Will a long TikTok hit the file size limit?
Rarely. TikTok accepts up to 4 GB per file, and runtime almost always runs out first. A clean 1080 x 1920 H.264 export is also the file that survives TikTok compression best.
Does this tool upload my video?
No. The file is read in your browser through a temporary link, the same way a local video player opens it. Nothing reaches Postify or anyone else, which is also why a large file is checked instantly.
