Instagram Bio Character Counter
Instagram gives you 150 characters for a bio. Paste yours in to see how many you have used, how many are left, and exactly where the text stops fitting.

Instagram's help center puts the bio at up to 150 characters. That is two or three short lines, and they have to say who you are, what you post and what to do next, so every character spent on decoration is one not spent on the point.
This counter counts characters the way you see them. A flag, a skin tone emoji or a family emoji is one character here, even though it is built from several code points underneath. Instagram does not say how it counts emoji, so its own count may differ for an emoji heavy bio. Spaces and line breaks count as well, and nothing is trimmed.
The count updates as you type, shows how many characters are left, and marks where the bio goes over so you know exactly what to cut. It all runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Tips
- Lead with what you do, in plain words. A visitor decides from the first line whether the account is for them, so the clever part can wait until the second.
- Use line breaks instead of separators. A line break costs one character, the same as a space, and reads cleaner than a row of dots or bars.
- End with one next step, and let the link do the branching. Postify's link-in-bio page puts your socials, custom links and latest posts behind one URL, so the bio can ask for a single tap.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters can an Instagram bio have?
150. That is the limit Instagram's help center gives, and spaces, line breaks and emoji all count toward it.
Do emoji count as one character in an Instagram bio?
This counter treats every emoji you see as one character, flags and skin tone variants included. Instagram does not publish how it counts emoji, and some are made of several code points, so if your bio is within a few characters of 150 and uses several emoji, trim a little to be safe.
Is my bio saved or sent anywhere?
No. The counting happens in your browser as you type. Nothing is sent to Postify or anyone else, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.
