LinkedIn Video and Image Size Checker

LinkedIn allows 5 GB and 30 minutes of native video, and accepts any shape from 1:2.4 through to 2.4:1.

Last updated: 2026-07-31

LinkedIn is one of the more forgiving networks on this list. Native video runs from 3 seconds to 30 minutes at up to 5 GB, and the accepted aspect ratio range covers everything from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1. Very little is rejected on technical grounds.

That is not the same as everything working. Feed video is watched muted and mostly on a phone, so a 16:9 export of a webinar recording occupies a narrow strip of screen while a square or vertical cut of the same footage takes several times the space. Burned in captions matter more here than resolution does.

The checker reads your file locally and compares it against native video, post images and multi image posts in one pass.

Your file never leaves your browser. The dimensions are read on your device and nothing is uploaded to us.

Pick a file and every LinkedIn format is checked against it at once.

The full spec sheet is below, so you can read the numbers without uploading anything.

File cleared? The rest of it, from connecting the account to scheduling the upload, is in our LinkedIn guide.

How to post to LinkedIn

LinkedIn video and image specs

Every LinkedIn surface with its own limits, in one place. These are the platform ceilings, so an upload that clears them still has to clear whatever your publishing tool allows.

LinkedIn Post image

Max file size10 MB
Recommended size1200 x 627
Aspect ratio1.91:1 recommended, 1:2.4 to 2.4:1 accepted
File typesJPG, PNG, GIF
  • 1200 x 627 is the size LinkedIn built the feed around, and it is also the size a shared link preview uses.
  • Square images take more vertical space on mobile and are worth testing against the landscape default.

LinkedIn Native video

Max file size5 GB
Duration3 seconds to 30 minutes
Recommended size1920 x 1080
Minimum size256 x 144
Aspect ratio16:9 recommended, 1:2.4 to 2.4:1 accepted
File typesMP4, MOV, ASF
  • LinkedIn publishes an unusually wide accepted range: anything from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1 uploads without complaint.
  • 5 GB and 30 minutes are the platform ceilings. Publishing through a scheduling tool usually caps the file around 500 MB.
  • Most feed video is watched with the sound off, so burn in captions rather than relying on the auto generated ones.

LinkedIn Multi image post

Max file size10 MB
Recommended size1200 x 1200
Aspect ratio1:1 recommended, 1:2.4 to 2.4:1 accepted
File typesJPG, PNG
  • Between 2 and 20 images per post, each under the same 10 MB cap.
  • The swipeable carousel LinkedIn is known for is a document post: a PDF of up to 300 pages and 100 MB, not an image set.

Specs verified 2026-07-31. Networks adjust these without announcing them, so re-check anything you are about to build a whole shoot around.

LinkedIn export tips

  • Publishing through a scheduling tool usually caps the upload nearer 500 MB, well under the 5 GB LinkedIn itself allows, so compress long recordings first.
  • Burn captions into the file. Feed video autoplays without sound, and the automatic captions only appear once someone opens the post.
  • Use 1200 x 627 for a post image and the same file doubles as the link preview, which is the other place LinkedIn shows it.
  • The swipeable carousel LinkedIn is known for is a document post: a PDF of up to 300 pages and 100 MB, not a set of images.
  • Keep feed video under two minutes. The 30 minute ceiling exists for recorded sessions, not for anything you want watched all the way through.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum video size on LinkedIn?

5 GB per file, with a runtime between 3 seconds and 30 minutes. Uploads made through a scheduling tool are usually capped nearer 500 MB, so the platform ceiling is rarely the one you meet.

What aspect ratio does LinkedIn accept?

Anything from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1, which covers every shape you are realistically going to publish. 16:9 is the safe default for reused footage, and 1:1 or 4:5 uses more of the mobile feed.

What is the LinkedIn image size limit?

10 MB per image, as JPG, PNG or GIF. 1200 x 627 is the recommended size, and a multi image post can carry between 2 and 20 of them.

How long should a LinkedIn video be?

The technical ceiling is 30 minutes, but feed attention drops off long before that. Under two minutes is the working range for anything meant to be watched rather than referenced.

Can I post a carousel on LinkedIn?

Yes, as a document post: a PDF of up to 300 pages and 100 MB that readers swipe through in the feed. A multi image post is a separate format and holds up to 20 images.
