Best Time to Post on Facebook

Facebook is a daytime network: Wednesday at 13:00 is the strongest slot, the weekday window runs 10:00 to 14:00, and by 19:00 a weekday has already fallen back to about two thirds of its midday level.

Last updated: 2026-07-31

Facebook is the one network here where the evening is a mistake. It wakes up early, is already strong by 09:00, peaks at 13:00 on every weekday, and then slides steadily until midnight. Posting at 20:00 because that is when you finished work is the most common avoidable timing error on this platform.

The usable block is wide, which makes it forgiving. From 10:00 to 14:00 a midweek day stays close to its peak, with a mid-morning high around 10:00 and a shoulder at 14:00, so anything inside the working day lands somewhere reasonable. Wednesday leads, Tuesday and Thursday are close behind, and Friday drops off.

Weekends are quieter across the board and Saturday is the weakest day of the seven. Sunday holds a mild rise from midday into the early evening rather than a real peak. Save the weekend for evergreen posts and put anything time sensitive midweek, around lunchtime.

Facebook posting heatmap, hour by hour

Every hour of the week scored against every other hour on Facebook. The strongest single slot is Wednesday at 13:00, the weekday window runs 10:00 to 14:00, and the weekend peaks around 11:00 to 14:00.

Facebook, relative posting activity by hour. Hours are in your audience local time. Picking a time zone only labels the plan, it does not shift the times.

Facebook is the daytime network in this set. It wakes up early, is already strong by 09:00, and peaks at 13:00 on every weekday. There is a second high point in the middle of the morning around 10:00 and a shoulder at 14:00, which together make 09:00 to 14:00 the block that matters.

The evening is the mirror image of Instagram. By 19:00 a weekday has fallen back to roughly two thirds of its 13:00 level and it keeps sliding until midnight. Posting a Facebook update at 20:00 because that is when you finished work is the most common avoidable mistake on this network.

Weekends are quieter across the board, with Saturday the weakest day of the seven, and the shape flattens: Sunday holds a mild bump from midday through the early evening rather than showing a clear peak. Save Saturday for something evergreen and put anything time sensitive on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday around lunchtime.

How to post to Facebook

How we build these estimates

What the numbers are

Aggregated engagement patterns: published posting-time studies, the daily rhythms each network reports about its own audience, and how people actually use each app. We turn that into one relative score per hour, 0 to 100, within a single network.

What they are not

They are not measurements of your account, and no personal data goes into them. Nothing here is derived from any individual profile, including the ones inside Postify. They are estimates, reviewed in July 2026, meant as a starting point you then test.

Why scores, not percentages

A score of 80 on Instagram and 80 on LinkedIn do not mean the same volume of anything. Each grid is scaled inside its own network, so the only useful comparison is between two hours on the same network, never between two networks.

Industry adjustments

Picking an industry shifts whole parts of the day rather than single hours: fitness lifts the morning, food and beverage lifts lunch, finance and tech lift working hours and pull the evening down. The shape of the network stays, the emphasis moves.

Timing estimates are aggregated engagement patterns from public posting-time studies and platform posting behaviour, last reviewed July 2026. They are a starting point, not a measurement of your account.

Getting more out of your Facebook timing

  • Aim for 13:00 midweek and treat 10:00 to 14:00 as the acceptable range. Outside that band you are giving up audience for no reason.
  • Stop scheduling Facebook posts for the evening out of habit. The 19:00 slot that works on Instagram is roughly a third weaker here than the same day at 13:00.
  • Comments matter more than likes on Facebook, because organic reach is tight and a live comment thread keeps a post surfacing for hours. Post when you can actually reply.
  • Use Saturday for things that do not expire. It is the weakest day of the week, so an evergreen post loses less there than an announcement would.
  • If your Page serves several time zones, lean towards where most of your audience is rather than posting twice and competing with yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on Facebook?

Wednesday at 13:00 on these estimates, with 10:00 to 14:00 strong on every weekday. Tuesday and Thursday at 13:00 are close behind Wednesday, so the middle of a midweek day is the reliable answer.

What is the best day to post on Facebook?

Wednesday, then Tuesday and Thursday. Friday falls off noticeably and Saturday is the weakest day of the week, scoring well under any weekday at the same hour.

Is it better to post on Facebook in the morning or the evening?

Morning, or better still early afternoon. Facebook is already strong by 09:00 and peaks at 13:00, while the evening is the weakest part of its waking day: by 19:00 a weekday is back to roughly two thirds of the 13:00 level and still falling.

Why is Facebook different from Instagram if Meta owns both?

Different audiences and different habits. Facebook skews older and is used through the day, often on desktop and in short checks, while Instagram is a phone-in-the-evening app. Same company, opposite peaks: 13:00 against 19:00.

Does posting time still matter on Facebook in 2026?

Yes, arguably more than elsewhere. Organic reach on Pages is tight enough that early engagement is what keeps a post alive at all, so posting when your audience is awake and reachable does real work here.
