Best Time to Post on X (Twitter)
X is a commute and lunch network: the weekday window runs 09:00 to 13:00 and peaks at 12:00, with Tuesday and Wednesday level at the top and a second rise in the late afternoon.
Last updated: 2026-07-31
X wakes up on the commute. Between 06:00 and 09:00 a weekday triples, arriving within a few points of its daily high before most people have sat down, then holds that level all the way through to 13:00 and peaks at 12:00. Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:00 are tied as the strongest slots of the week.
Unlike Facebook there is a genuine second wind. Late afternoon, around 16:00 to 17:00, lifts back close to the morning level as the news cycle picks up again, before easing off through the evening. Those two windows, midday and late afternoon, are where a post has the best chance of catching a scroll.
Weekends drop by roughly a third and change shape entirely. Saturday flattens into a long, mild plateau with no real peak, and Sunday moves its best hour to the early evening around 18:00, the only day on X where the evening beats the middle of the day. Volume matters more than precision here: the timeline moves fast enough that a good post at an average hour still works.

How we build these estimates
What the numbers are
Aggregated engagement patterns: published posting-time studies, the daily rhythms each network reports about its own audience, and how people actually use each app. We turn that into one relative score per hour, 0 to 100, within a single network.
What they are not
They are not measurements of your account, and no personal data goes into them. Nothing here is derived from any individual profile, including the ones inside Postify. They are estimates, reviewed in July 2026, meant as a starting point you then test.
Why scores, not percentages
A score of 80 on Instagram and 80 on LinkedIn do not mean the same volume of anything. Each grid is scaled inside its own network, so the only useful comparison is between two hours on the same network, never between two networks.
Industry adjustments
Picking an industry shifts whole parts of the day rather than single hours: fitness lifts the morning, food and beverage lifts lunch, finance and tech lift working hours and pull the evening down. The shape of the network stays, the emphasis moves.
Timing estimates are aggregated engagement patterns from public posting-time studies and platform posting behaviour, last reviewed July 2026. They are a starting point, not a measurement of your account.
Getting more out of your X (Twitter) timing
- Anchor the day at 12:00 and use 09:00 or 17:00 for the second and third posts. Those three cover the morning ramp, the peak and the late afternoon rise.
- Post more often than you would anywhere else. The timeline moves fast, the half life of a post is short, and frequency compensates for an imperfect hour in a way it does not on LinkedIn.
- Replies are what X rewards with distribution, so post when you can stay and answer. A post that ends in a question at 12:00 outperforms the same post left alone at 22:00.
- On Sunday, move your slot to about 18:00. It is the only day of the week where the evening is the strongest part of the day on this network.
- Do not bother with the overnight hours. The floor between 01:00 and 05:00 is among the lowest in this dataset and there is no compensating quiet-hours advantage.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best time to post on X (Twitter)?
12:00 on a weekday, with 09:00 to 13:00 strong throughout. Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:00 are level at the top of these estimates, and there is a secondary window around 16:00 to 17:00 on every weekday.
What is the best day to post on X?
Tuesday and Wednesday, which score identically at the peak hour, then Thursday. Saturday is the weakest day of the week and flattens out, while Sunday recovers in the evening rather than at midday.
Is it better to post on X in the morning or the evening?
Morning through midday on weekdays. The 07:00 to 09:00 ramp and the 12:00 peak carry the week, and the evening is in decline everywhere except Sunday, when the best hour of the day is around 18:00.
How often should I post on X?
More than once a day if you can. Because posts have such a short life in the timeline, several posts spread across the 09:00 to 17:00 range will out-reach one perfectly timed post, which is the opposite of the advice for LinkedIn.
Does posting time still matter on X in 2026?
It matters less than on any other network here. The recommended timeline surfaces older posts and the feed churns quickly, so a strong post finds people whenever it lands. Timing on X is a small edge rather than a deciding factor.
