The pricing model is the first thing to check. Every user is a seat, starting at $99 per user per month billed yearly on Standard, so a team of five on Standard pays for five seats.

Feature gating comes next. Post approvals need Advanced ($399 per user per month billed yearly), custom reports need Professional, and message assignment and routing need Advanced.

Contract terms matter too. Plans renew automatically, and if you cancel or downgrade you pay the rest of the term with no refund. Since June 24, 2026, Standard and Advanced customers have been moved to Social OS automatically, and the option to revert to classic Hootsuite ends on November 15, 2026.
